Fall 2014 Cocktail Series: Fumo y Fuego
We're back today with another installment in our Fall 2014 Cocktail Series, which we shot at local restaurant Nubar. So far, you've seen a Classic Manhattan served in a Simon Pearce Geo glass, the Nubar Rouge signature cocktail served in an iittala Essence Cocktail Bowl, and a Basil Lime Gimlet in a Schott Zwiesel Basic Bar Martini Glass. Today's recipe is another Nubar signature cocktail, called the Fumo y Fuego ("Smoke and Fire" in Spanish).
This aptly named cocktail is heavy on the smoke flavor, thanks to the inclusion of Mezcal, a tequila relative that is known for its smokey quality. The drink is made with Fidencio Mezcal, Amere/Commonwealth Bitters, Agave, and Fresh Lime Juice, and then gets a fresh jalapeno slice garnish, and a sriracha salt rim. It's certainly not for the faint of heart! We served this cocktail in a glass that could take it -- the Schott Zwiesel Carat DOF Glass.
