Weekly Table Setting: Rustic Sophistication
This week was an exciting week in the Didriks world. Aside from a myriad of projects online and in the store, we were pleased to welcome a new member to the team! Our new Visual Merchandiser Alex started on Monday, and the store has already seen a transformation. We're excited to see all that she'll bring to our team and our customers! As a better introduction, Alex created this week's table setting. She put together this beautiful table that is subtle and understated, but has an air of elegance and sophistication, which is pleasantly complimented by some rustic tones - birch decorations, neutral colors, and beautiful cherry boards. Quite lovely for her first try, don't you think?
The setting started, as it often does, with Chilewich placemats. This time we picked the Rectangular Basketweave placemats, in the color Latte.
For dinnerware, we went with a stoneware collection from Simon Pearce - the Woodbury Square Salad Bowl in Birch and the Woodbury Square Side Plate in Moss. if those two pieces alone don't scream rustic outdoors, then I don't know what does! In stark contrast, we used the Alessi Asta Flatware, which is made of gleaming stainless steel, and has a very contemporary look.
We featured this iittala Essence Red Wine Glass, which has a distinct angular shape with a long, tapered stem. We paired that with this super simple and streamlined Schott Zwiesel Basic Bar Softdrink Glass, shown below.
Finally, we placed two J.K. Adams Cherry Boards on the table, with a variety of Sabre cheese knives. Shown here are the Sabre Nature Cheese Cleaver in Natural Wood, Sabre Nature Cheese Plane in Horn, and the Sabre Natura Small Cheese Knife in Olive.
As one last design element, we used this unique iittala Toikka Spotted Crake glass bird, which has soft earth tones, and a touch of sparkle. It pulled all of the different elements together and made sense of the contrasting styles.
What's your table decor style?
