Weekly Table Setting: A Vision In White
This week we have an extra special setting to share - the table we used to host our most recent Dinner Series event! Our gracious host Marshall welcomed us into his home, giving up his kitchen, dining room and cozy back porch for a fun and delicious evening.
We decided on an all-white setting, because we knew Chef Benji would be bringing his culinary prowess, and we wanted a blank slate on which to showcase that. Benji pulled through with four very aesthetically pleasing courses, and it ended up working out perfectly!
Each setting began with a Chilewich Grid Rectangular Placemat in the Ceramic color. On it's own, this placemat doesn't have loads of personality, but set against a dark wood table top, and with accompanying white dinnerware, it looked quite nice. We were all very pleased with how it came out.
The dinnerware came exclusively from the Simon Pearce Belmont Collection, which we showcased in their new glaze color Dove. We used a dinner plate, a side plate, and a side plate.
The flatware came again from Alessi, with this Caccia 5-piece Cutlery Set. It has a slim, modern profile that can be dressed up or dressed down to fit a particular table setting. Here it hit just the right notes, fitting this slightly dressed up table perfectly.
The flatware was set over Libeco Home Vence Linen Napkins in Oyster.
For glassware, we went in a different direction, using the iittala Lempi Glasses for water, and the iittala Essence Plus White Wine Glasses for wine. We served two hand-selected wines (thanks to the folks at Formaggio for their help picking it out!), a rose and a full-bodied white.
Since we didn't want to interrupt the all-white theme too much, but did want a subtle touch of color, we placed two Simon Pearce Revere Bowls in the center of the table with pale blue hydrangeas. Simple but stunning!
Right in the center, we used a matching Simon Pearce Revere Candle Hurricane, to balance the whole table and round it out.
How are you dressing your table this summer?
