Weekly Table Setting: Summer Green's End
This week, we set our table with a few new iittala pieces from their fall 2013 collection. The new iittala theme this year is green, which you can see here applied in various ways.
These green hues remind me much of the fleeting summer days, and of the grass as it loses it's summer vibrancy, retreating for fall with a more muted tone. It looks peaceful and calm, but still with a bit of color and pizzazz left.
Each setting started with a Chilewich Basketweave Round Placemet in White, which was a great backdrop for the patterned Origo dinnerware. On top of the placemats, we placed a stack of iittala plates, starting with an iittala Origo Dinner Plate in Green, and a Teema Salad Plate in Celadon Green.
The settings continued with a Libeco Home Frascati Napkin in Gray wedged in between the dinnerware, and finished off with and an iittala Kartio Glass Bowl in Forest Green.
We used these petite iittala Origo Tumblers in Green, paired with an iittala Tapio Goblet. The Tapio glassware is a stunning collection, with a casual elegance that works beautifully here to dress up the settings ever so slightly.
We picked a pretty neutral flatware for this setting, since the dinnerware had a lot going on. Shown here is the Sabre Basic Flatware in Dark Grey. The casual flatware plays down the Tapio glasses, and when paired with the Origo dinnerware there is a lot of contrasting personality and style here, that somehow just works.
The focal point of this table are these Small and Large Nappula Candleholders in White. They also come in Black, Brass, and two different green colors, so there's plenty of variety to dress up your table. We chose the white here so that we could let the other tableware shine.
What are you doing to capture and enjoy these last few weeks of summer?
