Weekly Table Setting: Pop of Papaya
Generally our table settings are prepared by Didriks store manager Katy. Her discerning eye and knack for putting designs together come through every time, and it's always fun to see what she cooks up! However, things have been a bit hectic around the store as of late, so I decided to try my hand at putting together a table setting today. It's fairly simple, but cheery and bright, and overall I'm happy with the result! For this table setting, I picked bright complimentary colors to don the table. I've been working with a lot of our new Alessi dinnerware lately, and decided to feature a favorite of mine, the Alessi Mami collection. Paired with bright Papaya placemats and blue/purple accent pieces, it was playful and fun.
Each of the two settings started with new Chilewich Round Basketweave Placemats in Papaya, and then stacked Alessi Mami Dinner Plates, Alessi Mami Soup Plates, and Alessi Mami Bowls. I picked Libeco Home Vence Linen Napkins in Grape for a nice color contrast with the placemats. Each setting also had an iittala Ultima Highball Glasse , and off to the side I set an iittala Ultima Pitcher .
Dinnerware for this setting is another favorite of mine, the Alessi Nuovo Milano Flatware. This particular dinnerware is super smooth and streamlined, with a really great feel in your hands. We used it for a recent Dinner Series event, and I fell in love.
Also off to the side was this iittala Ultima Centerpiece/Platter , a stunning serving piece that has a variety of uses. We paired with it the Sabre Flatware Gingham Charm Salad Set in Lapis Blue, for another bright pop of color. Sabre flatware and serving pieces are perfect for summer, with their vibrant colors and playful patterns.
The last two items on the table were purely for decoration, this iittala Toikka Siberian Jay glass bird, and the below iittala Aalto Vase in White. Filled with green hydrangeas and white roses, it brought a dose of freshness to the table.
Happy Memorial Day weekend to you and yours! Hope you're got something fun planned for the long weekend.
