A Taste of Local

An amazing night of delicious local food to benefit the mission of local non-profit Food For Free.

It was a chilly January night, unlike the usual 40 degree days we’ve seen so far this winter, but that didn’t stop people from attending “A Taste of Local”. In partnership with our friends at Edible Boston we had five local businesses come together to share their appreciation for food and in celebration of our annual Food For Free fundraiser.

We had a taste of handmade jams from Doves and Figs, freshly baked Iggy’s bread and savory Middle Eastern dips from Sofra Bakery. Along with delicious seasonal appetizers from Season to Taste catering which included mini quiches, halibut bites and a cheese board. It’s always a surprise to see what Season to Taste has is store for the event as they have been catering it from the beginning. All of this delicious food was paired with wine from our neighborhood wine shop, Cuvée Fine Wines, and beer from microbrewery, Medford Brewing company.

Amidst the polaroids and the classical live guitar playing in the background, there were conversations about food, beautiful products and family. All of which we were blessed to have that evening. Regrettably, not everyone is as fortunate. Food For Free shared that “1 in 8 children in Massachusetts are not food secure”. This means they live in hunger and don’t have dependable access to food. Last year, Food For Free fed 30,000 people for free!

Knowing that there are people in the world working to combat the problems in our community is moving and we are happy to be able to make a small contribution while offering a taste of local along the way.
