Fall Entertaining: Essentials for Your Next Chic Dinner Party
Here at Didriks and Local Root, we like to feature a handful of unique items, brands, and collections every month. This month, we have an amazing lineup of quality pieces for your next dinner party. Keep it cozy and classy with gorgeous linens, barware, outdoor furniture, dinnerware, & more.
Let’s start in the kitchen. Food prep is just the beginning—no matter what you may be cooking, having a good set of knives is imperative to the process. Bob Kramer, a master bladesmith, partnered with the premium cutlery brand Zwilling J.A. Henckels to bring a new level of high-class craftsmanship to the cutting board. These knives feature Kramer’s iconic wide blades and thick handles; they also have a longer lifespan when being sharpened. The knives are made in Seki, Japan, out of carbon steel with micarta handles boasting brass rivets. Needless to say, when taken care of, these knives will maintain their impressive sharpness and cutting-edge craftsmanship for many years.
Pictured to the left is the Euroline Carbon 7 Inch Santoku Knife, an all-purpose Asian-style blade primarily used for meat, fish, and vegetables. This knife is a part of the Kramer Carbon 2.0 collection, which boasts Kramer’s redesigned knives from bolster to tip.
Let’s transition from kitchen to table, and take a look at the award-winning brand David Mellor. Bringing traditional Sheffield craftsmanship from his hometown and modernity together, Mellor’s flatware has earned him the title of best-known cutlery designer in Britain. David Mellor proudly offers 13 lines of cutlery, as well as a separate children’s line and two collections of kitchen knives: black-handled and rosewood-handled.
Featured to the right is the English collection. With elegantly tapered necks and a broad base, this set is based on his set originally commissioned for dining at 10 Downing Street. This collection is made of stainless steel in Derbyshire.
With cutlery comes a need for place settings of course! We have got you covered with the Royal Copenhagen Blue Fluted Mega. This traditional, white fluted, and delicate collection showcases Royal Copenhagen’s high standards of craftsmanship. Adorned with beautifully intricate designs, these pieces will bring subtle life to the table, while complementing the rest of your dining setup. This collection of porcelain was designed by Karen Kjaeldgard-Larsen, a visionary artist. For serving appetizers, put together a delicious arrangement of cheese and fruits on the Blue Fluted Mega Dish or the Blue Fluted Mega Oval Platter. For soups and salads, the Blue Fluted Mega Soup Plate is a versatile choice, and for the main course, the Dinner Plate works wonderfully.
The next step in completing your table setting is glassware. To complement this traditional, delicate and gorgeous look, we recommend considering the handmade, Italian glassware by Match Pewter. Combining pewter and crystal, Match has created an elevated level of barware to make dining luxurious. From beer goblets to water glasses, there are endless possibilities for your table. Adorn your setting with the Crystal Water Glass, and compliment Royal Copenhagen’s blue flowers with the Crystal Tulip Red Wine Glass.
Last but not least, relaxing after a meal should be done in comfort and style. Barlow Tyrie, the name of teak for a hundred years, boasts the Haven collection; a module-driven set of furniture pieces designed with unlimited seating in mind. With real, high quality, legal teak and cushions made with Sunbrella fabric, this collection is durable, comfortable, and perfect for an ever-changing outdoor space. Enjoy an aperitif with your guests while lounging in the Haven Armchair, or cozy up by the fire with family on the Haven Three-Seater Sofa.
