An Unexpected Jewelry Tray
I like to keep my frequently worn jewelry on little plates or salvers on my dresser, readily accessible and just as easily deposited at the end of the day.
There are jewelry trays sold for this purpose, but any small plate-like vessel will work. I like them to have a balance of plainness, such that the jewelry can be quickly discerned and picked out, and luxury, such that they are in themselves objects of beauty. A range of sizes can serve.
Here’s the plate I am using at the moment, a ceramic appetizer plate from Simon Pearce with a beautifully speckled glaze. In my eyes it was destined from the start to be a jewelry repository. Simon Pearce is known for their hand-blown glass, but their pottery is also worth a look.
Elegant coasters and saucers can also work well as jewelry trays. Something like the Alessi stainless steel bottle coaster or the iittala dewdrop salad plate. iittala's elegant glass Vitriini boxes would work nicely, too.
