It is always satisfying to transition your home for the change of seasons. Now is the time to make sure your bed is warm and cozy for the winter months. Here are a few things you can do to make sure your bed is ready for winter hibernation.

  • Add a feather bed. Feather beds are similar to a down comforter, but they are sized to rest on top of the mattress. Feather beds are luxurious and really make your bed feel like a warm cocoon.
  • Add a throw to the bottom of your bed. A woven or hand knit throw is a practical addition to your bedding. This small blanket can be used wrapped around your shoulders when you are reading in bed on a cold winter night.
  • If you don't have linen sheets now is the time to buy them. Linen keeps you incredibly warm in the winter. No more cold sheets when you slip into bed. Did you know that linen stays cool in summer and warm in the winter? Sort of amazing!
  • Refresh your down pillows and comforters. You can wash and dry these items in the washer and dryer. Just remember to use cold water for washing and dry the pillows and comforter on these lowest setting. Many people recommend throwing in a tennis  ball to help fluff the down while it is drying.
