While we are all familiar with cotton, many people don’t know that linen is made from the flax plant.   One of the few crops still grown in Western Europe, this region is perfectly suited for growing flax.  In addition to well suited soil and climate, Belgian flax growers have a long standing tradition of caring and cultivation of the flax plant.  They combine centuries of experience with the latest technological advances to produce the highest quality flax. The short growing cycle of the flax plant begins with sowing in March, blooming in June and then harvesting in July.  The plant ripens into a golden yellow color and then blooms for one short day.  As you can see, the field in bloom is a beautiful sight.
