Weekly Table Setting: Red Earth

The latter half of this week brought us the season's first cold spell, and it's quite a rude awakening after the lovely and warm fall we've experienced this year. As the temperature continues to drop, and the end of October draws nearer, we're starting to think of the impending holidays and the kinds of table decor that those will bring.

This week we chose to cover the table with this beautiful Libeco Home Brisbane Linen Tablecloth in Red Earth. The rusty red color is perfect for the transitioning seasons, and goes a long way to add a festive touch to the table, without being over the top.

Place settings this week started with the napkin first, and plates stacked on top. For each place setting, we used a Libeco Home Flanders Napkin, followed by a Heath Ceramics Chez Panisse Salad/Dessert Plate in Sand and a Simon Pearce Woodbury Round Appetizer Plate in Oxide Birch. For flatware, we used pieces from the Sabre Tortoise collection.

For glassware, we used this Alessi Ovale Water Tumbler (now on clearance!) and behind it, this Schott Zwiesel Banquet Double Old-Fashioned.

The center of this table was very ornamental. Instead of using the more traditional serving pieces, we arranged several Match Pewter candlesticks - another sign that holiday table themes are on our minds! Featured below and to the left, the Match Pewter Short Candlestick, and next to it, the Match Pewter Prato Candlestick.

We also had the Match Pewter Iron Spike Candlesticks (left), and the Match Pewter Marta's Candlestick. The varying heights and styles of these candlesticks gave the table some height and dimension, while still maintaining a unified theme.

This week's setting is definitely a sign of things to come. Next week we will be featuring the dinner table from our upcoming Dinner Series event this weekend, and it promises to be pretty spectacular. Stay tuned!
