Weekly Table Setting: Harvest Thanksgiving

This week's table setting is very near and dear to our hearts, because it's the setting we used at our recent Dinner Series Thanksgiving Dinner. Each year, we get together as a group and have our own pre-Thanksgiving celebration, going all out with a turkey and all the fixings. This year's table setting was designed - much like our weekly table settings - by our merchandiser Katy, and it looked great!

The table was set with a mix of Libeco Home Linens. Both the tablecloth and the napkins were from the Napoli Vintage collection. The tablecloth was in the Cafe Noir color, and the napkins were in Mink. Each setting had a Libeco Home Harvest linen napkin overlay, which has a lovely check pattern very reminiscent of the harvest season.

The flatware came from the Alessi Caccia collection. The collection is made from stainless steel, and offers a sleek, modern look. In addition to being rather sharp looking when set on the table, our group really enjoyed using this flatware, and found it comfortable to hold and handle.

Each setting had a wonderful blend of harvest colors, orange, green, yellow, blue. It was understated yet elegant all at the same time.

The dinnerware all came from the Heath Ceramics Chez Panisse Collection. We took this opportunity to use the new matte colors in that collection, Sand and Slate. The dinnerware has a great rustic feel, and the colors are easy to incorporate into virtually any table setting, which is one of it's best selling features. The plates are durable and sturdy, and we all enjoyed giving them a try.

The glassware came exclusively from iittala, featuring the new iittala Lempi Glasses, as well as the old standby iittala Kartio Thin Tumblers, both in Dark Lilac. The glasses added a wonderfully subtle pop of color, but still kept within the theme of the harvest table setting.

As you can see, we used the Lempi glasses for wine, which worked out well. They are a wonderful multi-purpose option that has a bit more personality than traditional everyday glassware. We really enjoyed the combination of the Lempi glasses with the Kartio tumblers - using the same color kept them looking cohesive, but they offered different shapes to each setting.

We added a few accents to the table, including these Salt and Pepper Grinders from Vic Firth. We picked this more neutral wood to adorn our table so we weren't introducing more colors to the tablescape, and they kept very much in line with the harvest feel.

We ended the evening with a bottle of Oban scotch, served in new Alessi glasses. We also took the opportunity to try out this Alessi ice bucket, which we're happy to report works great!
