Table Setting of the Week: Featuring Heath Ceramics

It's not hard to see why for most of us at Didriks, like Melissa, Kristina, and Jonathan, Heath Ceramics tops our list of favorite dinnerware: simply crafted and beautifully glazed, Heath simultaneously embraces its fifty year American heritage and contemporary appeal. It’s been exactly one hundred years since the birth of Edith Heath in 1911, the founder of Heath Ceramics, and her tableware still inspires us. Tom the Architect (a regular at Didriks, Tom talked to me about why he loves Heath while shopping at the store last month for his newly built cottage, which he designed himself) loves the hearty, hefty look of Heath. “It manages,” he said, “to be decorative without ever being precious.” It doesn’t hurt, he added, that it’s durable. “I know because we used it everyday at home and I’ve got two boys.” You can bring a bit of American heritage to your table with this fabulous table setting put together by Melissa featuring Heath vases as a multi-piece table decoration.

For this table setting, start with Chilewich Basketweave Rectangular Tablemats in Earth. Continuing the mat color, place Heath Ceramics Coupe Dinner Plate in matte brown contrasted by the Heath Ceramics Coupe Salad Plate in mist. The Libeco Polylin Blend Napkin in watermelon adds a pop of color against the earth and sky shades of the other items. Finish the place setting with the uber modern looking David Mellor Odeon Stainless Steel 5 piece Place Setting that reflects the clean lines of the Heath Certamics, and a Simon Pearce Barre Goblet.

Decorated center of the table with an assortment of Heath Ceramics vases in pale blues and browns: Heath Ceramics Multi-stem vase in Matte Brown and Aqua, Heath Ceramics Bud Vase in chocolate brown and aqua, Heath Ceramics Bulb Vase in aqua, and Heath Ceramics Single-stem vase in chocolate brown. They're a great, quick way to add visually playful and stunningly simple decorative interest to your dining table.
