He has drawn on the old Sheffield traditions of craftsmanship evolving a product altogether of our time. Not only did David Mellor create beautiful timeless silverware he also was well known for designing traffic lights, hacksaws and mailboxes. Modern City

Didriks is proud to carry an array of David Mellor Flatware, David Mellor Kitchen Knives, David Mellor Steak Knife Sets and David Mellor Accessories. Our favorite flatware set by David Mellor is City, one of David Mellor's most acclaimed ranges of cutlery. City uses advanced constructional techniques in stainless steel to achieve its unique sculptural form. The design has been developed to give a perfect balance in the hand. Winner of V&A and Homes & Gardens Classic Design Award. An almost timeless pattern characterized by fine proportions and the precise detailing so typical of David Mellor. Perfect in either modern or traditional settings. The understated shape is wonderfully classy. Designed in 1998, City was expertly developed to give a perfect balance in the hand. Handles are weighted using a unique process of welding together three separate stainless steel components. New computerized machinery was developed in order to provide the differing heat levels required for the variations in form. Many fine polishing processes are then employed to give City its seamless, perfectionist finish. City’s design is about balance, which is what we are all trying to achieve in our home!
