Cold Weather Cooking

Provencal Seafood Stew from Healthy. Delicious.

They said this was going to be a cold winter for us here in New England, and they weren't kidding! It seems like every other week a new storm is in forecast, and the arctic days seem to stretch on and on. I mean really - we're in the thick of Polar Vortex #2, and before this winter I don't know that any of even knew that a polar vortex existed! Aside from bundling up in your warmest winter garb, and pushing that thermostat to it's absolute limit, there's not a lot we can do but wait it out - and cook up a warm meal to feed the soul in the process.

This time of year, slow cookers are a kitchen favorite, as are recipes served piping hot fresh off the stove or out of the oven. We did some digging around the web, and compiled a short round-up of recipes that sounded good to us, and we figured you'd like them too.

(1) Creamy White Chicken Chili from Simply Scratch (2) Black Bean and Quinoa Enchilada Bake from Two Peas and Their Pod (3) Gnocchi with Brown Butter and Sage from Good Life Eats (4) Winter Vegetable Green Curry from A Cozy Kitchen (5) Warm Lentil and Potato Salad from Smitten Kitchen (6) Provencal Seafood Stew from Healthy. Delicious. (7) Caramelized Onion, Proscuitto and Gorgonzola Mac and Cheese from We Are Not Martha (8) Tomato Poached Eggs with Kale and Wheat Berries from Not Without Salt (9) Honey Balsamic Pulled Pork with Asian Slaw from Brown Eyed Baker

We'd love to hear what your cold-weather tactics are, and what's cooking in your kitchen these days!
