Weekly Table Setting: Cozy Red Farmhouse Decor

It's always fun to see the evolution of table settings from week to week, as we pass through seasons. Autumn changes into winter, and now we're eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring, and allowing that hopeful nature to creep into our minds, and our table designs. This week, Alex put together a setting that to her felt inspired by her roots, but to me feels like an ode to the days and months ahead. A washed red with soft, subtle blues - these are the colors of those days to come. But for Alex, this table holds much more meeting. Here's a peek into the mind of our talented designer!

I've always had a great love of farmhouse decor. Growing up in a house built in 1762, the rustic accoutrements are familiar and cozy to me. Exposed wooden beams, a beehive oven, the familiar red barn; my childhood surroundings seem to seep into my weekly table settings sometimes without my knowing. So when laying the table this time I knowingly gave in, but with a twist. This is a glamorous nod to the house I love so dearly.

My favorite part? The silver of the Mercurio coasters dressing up what might normally be used as a casual dinnerware collection. The sheen of the Woodbury collection and matte finish of the Coupe line once again prove that an eclectic mix of dinnerware can look nice (in my opinion even better) than matching everything to the tea.

Photo 1: This week's tablescape. The dinnerware is set over a Libeco Home Vence Tablecloth in Red.

Photos 2, 3: Birds eye view of the table, and of an individual place setting.

Photo 4: Up-close with the dinnerware: a Heath Ceramics Coupe Dinner Plate in Cocoa/Fawn, with a Heath Ceramics Chez Panisse Side Bowl in Sand and a Simon Pearce Woodbury Petite Bowl in Birch stacked on top. There is also a Libeco Home Napoli Vintage Napkin in Mink draped under each dinner plate.

Photo 5: Glassware. This time we used a Schott Zwiesel Forte Universal Tumbler and an Iittala Kartio Small Tumbler in Sand. The Kartio Tumbler is set over an Alessi Mercurio Drink Coaster.

Photo 7: Vases galore! Shown here are the Heath Ceramics Bud Vase, Single Stem Vase, Multi Stem Vase and Bulb Vase, all in Cool Lava.
