There's something so delicious about slipping between soft linen bedding, turning off the bedside lamp, and snuggling in for a great night's sleep. But what about those times when your mind won't stop spinning and you toss and turn all night long?
If that's the case for you, keep your eyes open long enough to glean these 5 crucial tips for getting a great night's sleep - and then head to bed!
- Unwind. Give yourself ample time to unwind before hitting the sack. Avoid bill paying, stressful conversations, or worrying in the hour before you're bed-bound. Spend 10-minutes deep breathing, or quieting your mind, before you tuck yourself in.
- Fast. Digesting food disrupts sleep patterns, and can cause fitful dreams. Try eating your last meal of the day at least four hours before you go to bed.
- No TV. While many believe the television soothes them to sleep, it actually does the opposite. The flashing lights and images projected by TVs and computers make it more difficult for your brain to "shut off" even when you shut your eyes. Keep your room for rest and relaxation only!
Try these tips for a week or two and hopefully restless nights will be a thing of the past.
