Book Club Menus

If you belong to a book club you know that the socializing and eating can be just as important as the book. If you’re on deck to host your book club we suggest you serve a meal inspired by the book. It is an easy way to plan a menu and the food is sure to be a conversation starter.
A website called Lit Lovers is dedicated to book clubs. They offer menu ideas based on different regions of the world or countries helping you find recipes that are perfect for the book you are reading. So, if your club is reading the latest book from Jumpha Lahiri you can find recipes for Indian food. Is your book set in the Middle East? Try a menu of Chick pea dip, lebanese lamb pie and lentil salad.
What is your club reading next? Leave a comment – we’d love to hear from you.
Get everything you need to cook and serve your book club meal at Didriks. We have cookware, tableware and bar-ware for all your entertaining needs.

Produce is really at its peak here in Cambridge and we are enjoying the bounty from our local farmer’s market. It is such a pleasure to buy locally grown produce direct from the source. You can easily create an easy and delicious meal with very little effort if you start off with produce at the peak of flavor.
If you are shopping at the farmers market don’t start with a set recipe in mind. Take a quick look at what looks good that day and work your menu from there. Many markets even have local breads, cheeses and farm raised meats so you can do some one stop shopping.
Here are some farmer’s markets in Cambridge but you could easily find a local market with a google search.

Jonathan’s Spoons

Jonathan’s collection of handcrafted cherry wood utensils has evolved from 30 years of experimentation in his wood shop and kitchen. They are cleverly designed to perch on the side of a pot or bowl so you don’t have to worry about drips. A variety of styles can be used to scoop, strain, sprinkle, whisk, ladle, grab, cut, peel, paddle, or pour. These spoons are the perfect example of a utilitarian item being taken to a whole new level of design and function. With a little care these beautifully handcrafted spoons will last a lifetime.
The idea for Jonathan’s business began when he forgot a spoon for his lunch while working as an apprentice furniture maker. He used a scrap of wood to craft a spoon on the spot. Years later when he was laid off from a job and looking to start his own business he remembered the spoon. Thus, Jonathan’s Spoons was born. Jonathan’s love for beautiful woods and his craftsmanship can be seen in each and every spoon he sells.
