There's Muddled And Then There's Muddled
Even as we were making the cocktail at our photo studio, I was thinking that our Cocktail #7 for the Fall Cocktail Series 2011 didn't seem very, well, fallish. The list of ingredients--rasberries and lemonade--should have been the first tip off, I suppose, but I couldn't resist the name and the fact that we just had Election Day.
Muddled Rebuttal was created during the 2008 election season when America changed history by electing it's first black president. There was nothing muddled about that turn of events. In fact, Americans seemed more clear headed about their choice, choosing to choose even for the first time in their lives, their political future.
So I couldn't resist putting this cocktail on our Fall Cocktail Series.
The second thing Melissa said when she tried it was, "It's summery." She looked confused. ((First thing was, "I love raspberries.)) I suppose I did muddle the Fall part of the current cocktail series with this one.
But just as unprecedented and astonishing as Obama's entry into the White House, this cocktail fits perfectly in the middle of the Fall Cocktail Series. It defies expectations, looks great, and delivers a refreshing punch in the midst of bourbon heavy, cream calling, spice ridden, and over-cidered Autumn cocktails. You need a break from it to help you remember that there are other flavors, other seasons, out there. Especially when the temperature keeps dropping and daylight escapes before you leave work. It's the rubuttal to the coming winter. Take that. Drink this.
