Didriks' visual merchandising/display manager, Melissa Ragonese, not only designed and prepared the meal for our ninth Dinner Series, but put together the two table settings featured in the dinner.
For the first and second course, the table setting consisted of coral colored Chilewich basketweave mats and ivory Jars Maguelone dinner, round salad, and rectangular salad plates. The raspberry color of the Libeco Polylin blend napkins are echoed in the magenta Modern Twist Coater Notz in Flora. The final effect of the simple ceramics and “the ecclesiastical purple and the pagan orange symbolizing the mystical symbiosis in marriage between the heathen and Christian traditions” ((Sophisticated observations of the Scottish Gareth from the 90's romantic comedy classic Four Weddings and a Funeral)) is to bring indoors the revitalizing plein air of a summer picnic or a roof top patio dinner. The place setting is finished off with flatware and glassware by iittala: namely the iittala Piano Workshop Collection 5 piece place set, Essence red wine glass and Essence tumbler. And, of course, the Berti steak knife for the Perfectly Grilled Beef.
For the last course, dessert, the setting was changed to a more playful one with a play on three primary colors: blue, red, and yellow: Chilewich Round Basketweave in Citron overlaid with Modern Twist Loop Doileez used as a fun and modern accent. It's the summery backdrop for iittala Ultima dessert bowls, beautifully crafted with a dripping glass look on the exterior that makes me think of a cold drink sweating in the summer heat. The dessert spoon is part of the iittala Piano Workshop Collection 5 piece place set .
