Arabia 24H Tuokio Tableware
In bringing in the wonderful Finnish brand Arabia we have gained what is to me the ideal soup bowl. This bowl is from their 24H line, and is available in a plain creamy porcelain as well as with the beautiful design painted here, from the Tuokio collection.
At 7.3" wide and 2.7" high, this bowl is broad and generous, neither too deep nor too shallow. It has a pleasant weight in the hands, and is basically everything I want in a bowl.
It's perfect for elaborate soups like ramen, when you want to be able to present multiple garnishes. The other bowls we have with this kind of profile, which I also love, are the Alessi Mami bowl and the Alessi All-Time bowl. The Jars Tourron pasta plate is just slightly wider and shallower, making it another excellent option for this kind of heavily garnished dish.
For a soft cooked egg like this, drop it gently into boiling water and let it boil for 5-7 minutes (depending how soft you like your yolk). This is a 6 minute egg, which is about what I like. It's well worth it to experiment to find the texture you like best. Good luck!
